COURSE OVERVIEW
NURSE ED 101 offers a comprehensive 30-hour IV therapy certification course, meeting the Florida State Board of Nursing’s requirements for LPNs before administering IV therapy. It also caters to RNs and APRNs who want to enhance their IV therapy skills.
Upon course purchase, students receive a unique link to access the online portion. This online section includes multiple modules with evidence-based practice resources, videos, case studies, quizzes, and more.
Important: All online coursework is self-paced and must be completed before attending the in-person skills session.
In-Person Skills Session
During the in-person session, students will be tested on various clinical IV therapy competencies, which include:
- Inserting peripheral IV catheters
- Changing PICC and central line dressings
- Hanging and infusing IV fluids (maintenance fluids, antibiotics, blood products, TPN)
Upon successful completion, students will receive a 30-hour Florida Board of Nursing CEU certificate.
COURSE CURRICULUM
This course covers essential topics related to IV therapy, including:
- Patient care for those receiving IV therapy
- Venous system and fluid/electrolyte balance
- Venipuncture and IV access devices
- Complications and infection control standards
- Legal aspects and scope of practice for IV therapy
COURSE COST
